Non Traditional Wedding Dresses... a Break From Convention

Ever thought about non traditional wedding dresses? They may be the perfect choice If you feel that a conventional wedding dress is not your thing.

It may be you feel you’ve outgrown the idea of the traditional white gown or you simply prefer a no-fuss focus on saying yes to the man of your dreams.

Not that you need to compromise on on beauty or elegance with a non-traditional choice.  You simply have the advantage of devising a completely personal and unique look on your special day.

If you choose to go for a non traditional wedding dress then narrowing down your options will be a important task.

Consider what you actually want to wear as you walk down the aisle. Think about colour, cut, style, and how far you want to go outside the box, when it comes to looking at non traditional wedding dresses.

You can go for a dress, eventing gown, a suit, even trousers.

Venue plays a bit factor when it comes to steering away from the rituals of weddings and the kind of gown you chose should reflect it.

You might prefer a location with a difference, in the country, or perhaps you want to opt for a destination wedding.

If your wedding is traditional in every other sense, why not try a shorter, simpler version of the more conventional dress?

How to achieve the non-traditional look

Colour is a big factor in departing from the stereotype traditional Western bride, although it’s very common in other parts of the world.  If you like the idea of a dress then travel into new territory using colour to differentiate.  A suit is a perfectly unconventional for a wedding but you may give a nod to tradition if you pick white or ivory.

Shoes and other accessories can also be taken to a whole new level – add a dash of your character by using these alongside a simple outfit.

Whatever you chose, you are able to make a statement in a number of ways. Say it with a huge black gown, or a simple silk trouser suit. A themed wedding can conjure up all sorts of fantastic outfits and these are easily narrowed down if you take into account your themed plans.

And if you’re torn between sticking to a traditional white gown and going it alone, why not go for both? Be a conventional blushing bride during the day and change for the evening. You’re a bride and you can have it all if you wish!
